President Ahmadinejad is in Mecca to attend the Summit of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and he apparently is distancing himself from his “elimination” stand on Israel to a perhaps more affectionate “wise removal of the anxiety” point of view!

He is also not suggesting that he and his cohorts have all the answers to the Palestinian’s dilemma by stating that a “broad-based referendum” within the country is the best way to find a solution. Of course, the Jews who have immigrated to the area over the past 50 years will be excluded from this all inclusive affair, but Palestinians displaced to other countries in the region will get a vote. If such referendum is to be completely free and supervised internationally to ensure the integrity of its results, then maybe Mr. Ahmadinejad could commit himself to an exact replica for Iran too. We’ll keep the imported “revolutionaries” from Iraq and Afghanistan out, but all Iranians displaced by this regime will get a vote to decide the form of government we want. After all, what’s good for the goose…
