LA’s Fashion District is a gigantic maze of stores and warehouses that not only sell clothes, but you can pretty much find anything and everything in its various streets and back alleys (as the old Persian proverb says: “from chicken milk to humanity’s existence”) . Santee Alley in particular is a hub for fake designer brands and bootlegged Hollywood movies on DVD, some of them complete with the images and sounds of people moving about or talking in front and around the camcorders that recorded them in theatres. Lately, they even offer full DVD versions of movies that have not even been released in theatres, complete with DVD menus, extras and more. I was told that they are hacked duplicates of the copies that are sent to industry insiders and press reviewers prior to any wide release.
I’ll be the last person to encourage you to buy them with little respect for artist’s and studio’s copyrights, but if you do on your own judgment, I strongly recommend the one seen below. Click on the small thumbnail for a full preview of the cover.
