Fact or Fiction? In the year 1980, Saddam Hussein received the key to Detroit, becoming it's "honorary citizen".
Fact!
Don't think he was a "good guy" at the time who turned out bad later either. During the same year, he invaded a neighboring country, started his campaign to develop WMD's, persecuted the Kurds on north and agonized Shiites to the south, held thousands of political prisoners who where abused and subjected to torture as a routine practice and of course executed hundreds of opponents, even within his own Ba'ath Party.
Oh, what a swell guy for us to honor and how perplexing our favors turn, no?
