Those who have been around this blog for a while (and are still around to read this) already know how I feel towards certain chain coffee shops, particularly Starbucks (1) (2).
Well, if you are also more into the independent variety when it comes to your cup of java but have a hard time finding a decent place to get it (who can blame you? there are 314 Starbucks as opposed to just 156 independent Cafe's within a 5 mile radius of my own home, for example), there is still hope for you.
Just bookmark Delocator in your favorite browser and check out the neighborhoods you regularly visit. You'd be amazed at the wealth of information available on a number of other alternatives, including links to their sites, maps and directions.
The big drawback? It is only a U.S. based database and even for that, the information for outside of major urban areas is rather limited. However the second part of that dilemma could be rectified if you'd take the initiative and encourage your local favorite hangouts to add their shops to the list.
Good huntin' and take pleasure in your guilt-free local finds!
