Radical Radio

For a while now, and particularly since moving to LA, I have been a big Pacifica Radio fan. But yesterday through the wonderful ads Google has returned to this blog (aren't the cool this time around? not as many Persian rugs but more mention of progressive/alternative sources) I tried Radical Radio and I'm hooked. This is their introduction and a link for you to listen:

"Radical Radio is a non-commercial news, analysis and commentary based alternative news radio that is comprised of a 12 - 15 hour program that is updated every 2-3 days and features current alternative news from sources like Democracy Now, Free Speech Radio News, the Shortwave Report and international Indy Media reports and mixes them with presentations from political and social commentary groups and personalities such as Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Noam Chomsky, Angela Davis and many, many others. This is peppered with music and poetry. We aim to offer the best in alternative news radio available on the web. We hope you like the taste more than the bland pabulum commercial radio or the middle of the conservative perspective NPR dishes out.. Stay tuned, stay informed and stir it up!"

I am sure you have tried it before, but just in case you have not try 89.9 KCRW, or listen to it online at KCRW.COM, both the news and music are unique and eclectic.

Yes, Pacifica does, indeed, rock. Local, independent media is awesome. I could do without some of the jazz and stuff, but the news, analysis, commentary and interviews are awesome. Amy Goodman is in the hizouse!

Pedram:

I came to Southern California in early 1970s. Eversince then, have been an avid KPFK listener, donator and a participant. I have also been a Leonard Cohen fan since 1970s (have all his books and albums. Gone to many of his concerts, some of which he did not show up -- Typical Cohen !!).

Reading your blog since its inception, it seems you are recently being introduced to several things (such as the two above) that I started to dig over 30 years ago. I wonder if you are going to grow up and become someone like me, 30 years from now?!
