New Campaign '04 Volunteer?
Iranian state broadcasting has reported today about Usama's capture "a long time ago." The report and claim that Rumsfeld's recent visit to Afghanistan was directly related to it have been denied by both U.S. and Pakistan. Considering the assertion that the entire affair is in preparation of an election time diversion to guarantee 4 more years control of the White House by Neo Cons, that's not surprising.
I would normally ignore this, however it is hard to forget how the same source reported on the arrest of Saddam way ahead of all other news agencies. Besides, with the U.S. abandoning everything in Afghanistan outside of Kabul to tribal chiefs and occasional criminal war lord, some of them with strong Iranian connections, it's not hard to imagine news of this magnitude being leaked to such a source.
Hey, with an administration so deeply immersed in various lies and fabrications, why should anyone be surprised about them saving some large deceptions for the election season?

Remember, after the "capture" of Saddam, there was a surge in Bush's popularity. A well placed announcement, at an exact time before the election, can tip the balance...

And some Democrat sympathiser in the US military would whistleblow - and make megabuck$ for setting up one of the scoops of the Century.
I'm not saying it's beyond Bush and the lying coterie around him to try something like this. I just don't think they'd get away with it.

Al Queda would create some de-facto replacement, such as UBL's son, Aman Al Zawahiri, or some other false apostate waiting in the wings.
It would make sense to keep it a secret at least for a while. It would make sense to use that secret to our advantage in rounding up the rest of the violent cult that surrounds him.
And if they did catch him, the day they execute him I intend to take a day off of work, and drive through town with a huge American flag beeping my horn and yelling "YEAH!!!!! THEY KILLED BIN LADEN!!!!! HOORAH!!!!"

So I dont care if they have him now or later, as long as they take him alive and dont allow him to become some kind of martyr in the eyes of those brainwashed by him and his minions. I hope he is made to suffer. The people of New York here and any of those who felt the affects of the attacks would like that. As terrorism to come to an end, well that wont happen until its stopped from within, we can capture and kill thousands of terrorists but this will not halt the spreading of its evil.

They had the chance to catch him in the Afghan mountains of Tora Bora except Rumsfeld/Bush wouldn't put US troops on the ground, and he escaped. Oh well, we'll get him next time. Anyway I think the Saudis paid off, whoever they had to, to keep Bin Ladden from being caught.
