Go Shohreh, Go!

Shohreh-Aghdashloo.jpg

What a year for individual Iranian women 2003 was. Now this makes it even better with recognition of yet another one for her great work. Shohreh Aghdashloo will forever be known as an Oscar nominated actress, even if she won't win one in March. She will also be the first Iranian actor or actress ever nominated for the award.

Here's an interview with her, plus the full list of all nominees. Now I can admit to not having seen the movie yet and promise to take my parents to see it together this week!

I hope we will all celeberate the day ALL Iranian women achieve their final objective and can look forward to taking back all their rights in a free and democratic Iran.

Is she really that good? ... or you are proud of her just because she is Iranian? Do you think it is a good reason for being proud of somebody? After all it is just just "nationalism," ... something I personally don't see anything positive in it . Nationalism is another system of empty ideas for seperating human being and make them love or hate each other based on where they are born or what race they are.

I have seen her acting in theater, with her real husband (Hoshang Tozee) She is really a good actress; had the opportunity been provided to her, she would have received this nomination (if not a better one) long before, Her husband is quite a talent as well, especially in a writing comic-critical scripts.

I agree with you Pedram. Good for her, I have to see it too! By the way the Oscars are on February 29th.

I think she is definitely up there with zellweger etc... You will agree if you have seen "Sooteh delan"...

But if any one Iranian deserves an oscar or two, it would be Behrouz Vosoughi. I can easily, and without feelings of nationalism rank him up there with Deniro and Jack Nicholson.

Lest we forget to honour him.
