The American Justice

Against every principal of justice accepted globally, you take your prisoners to a remote part of the globe, with no access to the outside world, no charges and no right to seek legal help. You keep them for months, years, heck as long as you wish, then appoint some of your own people to defend them without offering the detainees any input in the process. The situation is so bad, your own people you appointed are disgusted by the unfair nature of the "trials" you are holding.

What to do, what to do? FIRE 'EM! That's what! Problem solved. American style!

There is a historical reference,a group of lawless anarchists organized on quasi military style, with no national loyalties. rationalizing thier killing, stealing money, interupting commerce and travel. They were the pirates of the high seas. These pirates were dealt with, many were simply tied to heavy weights and sunk.

Arabs and Chechens caught fighting in a battle feild in Afghanistan? They are lucky to be alive. What do you think the Afghan Government would do with them. Maybe we should send the Chechens to Russia and turn the Saudis over to the Royal Family, NOW THATS JUSTICE!

ahh but if anyone captures any US soldiers then we would expect the rule of law to apply. If it's a "war on terror" people you catch should be considered prisoners, I don't think anyone is aruging that you have to let them go rather that you have to apply the basic principals of the law. You are also assuming that they are all figthers and foreign some of them are ordinary afghans, in fact some that have been released were given nothing more than a pair of jeans and a plane ticket back.

Frankly I am tired of the whole issue, I think its time to just start the clash of civilizations, get it on, get it over with. Lets just admit it, thats where we're headed. I the whole world hates us and calls us an evil empire, I say we give them the evil empire.

Great, now we are down to standards set by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to see how we deal with issues of justice. Of course if that doesn't work, then we threaten the world too. Evil Empire? Just an Empire with a few Evil people in charge of it for now, unfortunately.
