Click here and tell me this; is this an actual functioning poster or just a publicity stunt and made for domestic consumption as oppose to a useful tool for use in Iraq.
I mean, how effective is a poster in English with a phone number in U.S. in helping to capture Saddam where he is hiding in Iraq? How much of my tax dollars were wasted in design, production and distribution of this useless item? Or maybe it was the Iraqi money, badly needed for reconstruction of that country, wasted this way by "the Coalition Provisional Authority"?
At every turn, there are more examples of how poorly this illegal invasion is planned and conducted. This is yet another sample. I say; support our troops, bring them home!
Agreed about the poster. But I can't agree with the 'support our troops - bring them home' line. There's obviously substantial resistance to the Americans in Iraq, and hence lots of armed people who don't want democracy.
The state can't defend itself yet, and if the troops leave it could descend into even greater disorder. I want them out as soon as possible, but they've got a job to do first. The fact that they're continually making a complete pig's ear of that job is unfortunate, but hey.
Pedram:
wouldn't you say this is a more constructive way of spending your tax dollars than nation building (= destroying homes and killing innocents)?
Assuming you live in Canada, none of your tax dollars are being wasted on this project ;)
Posted by: polo at August 1, 2003 11:09 AMin a world of multi-national corporations it is hard to dissociate yourself from the killing of innocents committed by others. no matter where you reside, probably a penny out of every 100 dollars you spend on electronics goes to finance an unjust war. despite this, the contribution of Canadians to injustice in the world is negligible compared to their southern neighbors. their tax dollars go to finance a free health care system, not a phony war against a phony target.
P.S. i'm not Michael Moore, and this is not my acceptance speech at the Oscars!
1. The war was not illegal.
2. The war stopped the career of one of the sickest governments on the face of the earth.
3. The current perception about what is going on in Iraq, as reported by the media, is not the whole picture.

Posted by: Milwauken at August 4, 2003 12:41 PMCatholics follow the Pope and he stated that the war was unjustified. Whether the government was totalitarian and killing numerous innocents or not was really besides the point.
The Chinese Communist government has a history worse than Saddam Hussein's so on that basis the US should have attacked China. I await with baited breath that attack on China by the Bush administration (whose philosophy is attack unjust countries that you are really sure that you can defeat, but the ones that will defeat the US will be left alone.)
Posted by: Bill King at August 5, 2003 04:05 PMI sure am glad that we live in a country that is not affraid to step up and help a nation such as Irag rid themselves of a brutal murderer like Saddam. As far as the catholics following the pope just look at the present day catholic organazation...I rest my case.
